Mary Flocca

Mary Flocca, MA, LMFT

“Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; Who looks inside, awakes.” ~ Carl Jung

Mary understands the courage and vulnerability it takes to embark on the personal journey of engaging in inner work and psychological exploration. The good news is that you do not have to do it alone. The most transformational aspect of therapy is the relationship between client and therapist; the sense of trust, empathy, and security are foundational building blocks to healing. Mary’s compassionate and curious nature facilitates a therapeutic partnership that encourages developing a deeper understanding of oneself, through navigating the thoughts and beliefs in the mind, as well as the sensations and impulses in the body.

Mary’s therapeutic approach is Psychodynamic with an emphasis in Depth Psychology (the study of the unconscious) and Somatic Psychology. She specializes in working with the unconscious by analyzing psychological material from both the mind and body. The mind and body are always working in tandem, and therefore Mary believes psychotherapy can be enhanced by incorporating the physical body through embodied awareness and somatic practices.

Mary has been a yoga and meditation teacher for the past seven years, specializing in yoga psychology, mindfulness, trauma informed yoga, and breathwork. She has advanced knowledge and experience in interweaving holistic practices into therapeutic work to create more depth and wholeness in personal healing. Mary specializes in the treatment of Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, ADHA, and Addiction.

She received her Bachelor’s in Psychology from California State University of Long Beach in 2012, where she conducted research in psychological health. After working in the field for seven years, she went on to receive her Master’s in Clinical Counseling with an emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in 2021. In addition, she is in the process of becoming a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), a therapeutic orientation aiming to promote trauma resolution by physiologically reorganizing the nervous system.

Mary has been working in Mental Health for the past ten years. Her experience and passion ranges from working with young children, adolescents, and adults helping support them on their path towards healing and growth.

Mary is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT #127223) working under the supervision of Stefanie Goldstein PhD (PSY21780)
